Dr. Eric Ethridge

Growing up in Ontario, Canada, Dr. Ethridge was an avid athlete; however, his athletic career was plagued by chronic sports injuries. After trying physical therapy for years with no success, it wasn’t until he met a chiropractor that his life and athletic journey completely changed. He knew from the age of sixteen that he wanted to give the same gift to other people of allowing them to do the things they love, pain-free. He went to Western University where he played varsity football as a defensive end and studied Human Kinetics. From there he enrolled in the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) where he received his Doctorate in Chiropractic magna cum laude. With over 10 years of clinical experience, Dr. Ethridge specializes in advanced functional neurology - going beyond spinal adjustments to examine how the brain and nervous system drive pain and dysfunction. He intends to bring his unique perspective and advanced techniques to the Mt. Juliet community to treat pain without drugs or surgery.

His Approach

Each treatment is highly individualized to the patient and the goal with each visit is to establish the underlying cause of a patient’s pain or dysfunction. On the first appointment, Dr. Ethridge will take a detailed medical history, perform an orthopedic and neurological exam, order diagnostic imaging, or refer you to another medical specialist if indicated. Once the issue has been diagnosed, he uses a variety of methods ranging from rehabilitation and chiropractic adjustments, to advance pain relief techniques and functional neurology to address the root cause.

What is “Functional Neurology”?

Functional Neurology is “a science of applied neurophysiologic diagnosis based on the theory that health and disease are life processes related to the function of the nervous system: irritation of the nervous system by mechanical, chemical or psychological factors is the cause of disease; restoration and maintenance of health depend on normal function of the nervous system. Diagnosis is the identification of these noxious irritants and treatment is their removal by the most conservative method”

In other words - while most chiropractors treat where it hurts, Dr. Eric treats why it hurts.

Functional neurology examines how the brain and nervous system are communicating with the rest of your body. When those signals break down - from injury, stress, or chronic dysfunction - the result is pain, poor movement, and symptoms that don’t respond to standard treatment. By identifying and correcting these neurological patterns, Dr. Eric gets to the actual source of the problem.
